In recent years, the contemporary trend has been towards fewer capitals in the formatting of headings.

When the typewriter was standard business technology, we tended to use all caps for headings because typewriters had little else to offer. In the early days of word processing, headings changed to title case, where most letters were capitalised.

The ASG recommends sentence case for headings in all texts because it is the cleanest and easiest to read, and modern technology has plenty of formatting options to help a heading to stand out.
