Verbs

Verbs describe actions and play an essential role in energising your writing. We can categorise them in 2 ‘voices’ – active and passive – which tell you the relationship between the action in a sentence and the subject.

Using the active voice, and active verbs, is a fundamental principle of plain English expression.
